Can dogs eat bread?

Okay in small amounts

Plain baked bread is safe in small amounts — but raw bread dough is dangerous.

🐱 Can cats eat this?

Why

A little plain white or wheat bread is usually harmless filler, though it offers no real nutrition. The serious hazard is uncooked yeast dough: it keeps rising in the warm stomach and ferments into alcohol, which can cause painful bloating and alcohol poisoning.

How much matters

Never let a dog eat raw yeast dough — treat that as an emergency.

If you do share it

Only a small piece of plain, fully baked bread occasionally. Avoid loaves with raisins, garlic, seeds or xylitol.
